China and the Climate Crisis

Our keynote presenter, Taylor M. Francis, a 15-year old from Menlo Park, was trained personally by Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore to speak to audiences around the country about global warming. He has spoken to nearly 10,000 people, and has been featured on the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle, in the San Jose Mercury News and on NBC. Mr. Gore has spoken publicly about Taylor in his speeches.

In a trip partly funded by The 1990 Institute, Taylor will visit China this June to speak to audiences in Shanghai and Beijing about climate change. He will speak to groups of high school students, university students and government and business leaders. His trip is arranged by officials at the State Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), the Shanghai Children’s Palace and Fudan University.

In celebration of Earth Day, youth are particularly encouraged to join the dinner banquet this year to learn from one of the Bay Area’s most articulate young speakers about climate change.
