Our Projects
The 1990 Institute began as a think tank dedicated to researching the myriad challenges facing China. As time went on, and the relationship between the U.S. and China became more open, the Institute began to understand that there were ways in which it could contribute with action-oriented projects. Areas of particular concern, and in which the Institute’s directors thought they could make an immediate contribution, were the education of girls in rural China and the widespread concern about environmental issues. Both of these projects include an element of cross-cultural exchange as well. We have since decided to expand the scope of our involvement into our new microfinance initiative and, in keeping with our research-based roots, our biofuels initiative. The current on-going projects are:
- Spring Bud (Dragon Fund) - since 2002
- Children, Art and the Environment Project (CAEP) - since 2002
- The Microfinance Project (recently initiated). Click here for more information about this project.
- Biofuels Research (recently initiated)
